During quarantine due to the Corona Virus outbreak I was inspired to challenge myself creatively and try something I had never done. I chose to try different DIY techniques on old clothing that I had and see if I could make anything worthy of wearing in public as fashion is a big interest of mine. After making the clothing I also enlisted the help of some family to model the finished products.
For this pair of jeans I decided to try hand sewing. I added some patches behind the holes with different fabrics and incorporated some red elements with the thread. It turned into a cool Fourth of July pant.
I bought a plain white tee and scribbled all over it with sharpie and then doused it in rubbing alcohol to create a fun tie dyed effect. I then strung a shoelace through the bottom to crop it and cut a fun triangle out at the collar.
With this shirt I did the same as above with sharpie and rubbing alcohol, I just used less of it. While the shirt was still wet I experimiented with outlining the letter in black paint.
I took this plain black tee and printed out a quick text design on computer paper. I then wrapped the design in saran wrap and ironed it on the shirt, with parchment paper protecting the iron. This one was probably the least successful.
Here I took some acrylic paint and create a design on some old jeans
Overall I would say i definitley wouldn't wear all of these in public, but maybe you'll see me rocking a shirt or pair of pants from quarantine out in public. It was a successful experiment and helped me explore some creative avenues.
